PRP - Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment
PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma treatment, is a cosmetic treatment that harnesses your own blood's healing power. The blood is separated into platelets and concentrated and then injected back into targeted areas of your skin. Platelets are rich in growth factors, which help stimulate collagen production and promote healing. This leads to improvements in skin texture, tone, and fine lines, and can also be used to promote hair growth.

Frequently asked questions
PRP, standing for Platelet-Rich Plasma, is an advance regenerative treatment. It harnesses the power of your own blood to rejuvenate and heal tissues.
Leveraging Your Body's Healing Potential:
PRP is derived from your own blood. A small amount is drawn and processed to concentrate the platelets, which are rich in growth factors. These growth factors play a vital role in healing and tissue regeneration. By injecting this concentrated PRP solution into a targeted area, you can stimulate your body's natural healing processes.
PRP therapy applications:
Skin Rejuvenation: PRP injections improve skin texture, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and enhance overall skin quality by stimulating collagen production and promoting cellular renewal.
Hair Restoration: PRP injections in the scalp can stimulate hair growth and potentially slow down hair loss. The growth factors in PRP can help to nourish hair follicles and promote a healthier scalp environment.
Benefits of PRP Treatment:
Natural Approach: PRP utilises your own body's healing elements, minimising the risk of allergic reactions.
Targeted Treatment: PRP can be tailored to address specific concerns, whether it's wrinkles on your face or thinning hair.
Faster Healing: PRP can accelerate the healing process for injuries or surgical procedures.
Improved Skin Quality: PRP promotes collagen production, leading to smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin.

PRP treatment, short for Platelet-Rich Plasma, involves a three-step process that uses your own blood to promote healing and rejuvenation:
Step 1: Preparation
Cleansing: The area to be treated will be thoroughly cleansed.
Step 2: Blood Draw and Platelet Concentration
Blood Draw: A Byova professional will draw a small amount of blood from your arm, similar to a typical blood test.
Centrifugation: The drawn blood is then placed in a centrifuge, a machine that spins at high speeds. This centrifugation process separates and concentrates the components of blood.
Platelet Isolation: Using specialised techniques, the healthcare professional carefully collects the platelet-rich plasma layer, separating it from unwanted components. This concentrated PRP solution contains a high number of platelets and their valuable growth factors.
Step 3: Injection and Treatment
Targeted Injection: The concentrated PRP solution is then carefully injected into the desired treatment area.
Healing and Regeneration: Once injected, the growth factors in the PRP get to work. They stimulate the surrounding tissues to heal, regenerate, and produce more collagen, leading to the desired benefits like improved skin quality or hair growth.
Optional:
Boost: Boost the effectiveness of your treatment by adding on microneedling to the target area. Micro-channels will increase absorption of the platelet growth factors.
Step 4: Aftercare
Your Byova clinician will go through all the necessary aftercare with you and your follow-up appointments. PRP treatment is minimally invasive, and downtime is usually minimal. You might experience some temporary swelling, redness, or soreness at the injection site, but these typically resolve within a few days.
Byova's Expertise: At Byova, our experienced professionals use advanced PRP techniques and follow strict protocols to ensure optimal results and patient safety. We will discuss the entire process in detail during your consultation and answer any questions you may have. PRP offers a promising and natural approach to rejuvenation and healing. Byova can help you determine if PRP is right for you and create a personalised treatment plan to achieve your desired outcome.
Generally, for optimum results, a course of treatments will take place every 4-6 weeks for a series of 3-6 treatments.
The hair cycle can cause results to take 6 months+ to be noticed. A minimum of 6 sessions is recommended for scalp treatments.
Important Considerations:
Multiple Sessions: PRP treatments often require a series of sessions for optimal results. The specific number will depend on the individual and the treatment goal.
Maintenance: While PRP does stimulate long-term tissue regeneration, the visible results often last for several months and require maintenance treatments.
PRP is a generally well tolerated treatment. Numbing cream is not generally recommended as this will reduce to absorption of the platelet growth factors.
Try not to drink any alcohol within 24 hours prior to your appointment or caffeine on the day of your appointment.
Arrive to your appointment without make-up in the target area or we can remove it for you.
Do not have treatment 2-4 weeks before or after a laser treatment or chemical peel, as this can increase swelling and redness or hyperpigmentation.
Avoid sun exposure for 24 hours prior to treatment.
PRP typically involves minimal downtime, allowing you to get back to your daily routine quickly. Immediately after treatment, you will experience some minor swelling, redness, and tenderness. This is usually temporary and resolves within a few hours or days. Other reactions may include slight tightness and mild flaking.
To avoid the risk of any complications, please follow the below after care:
Most people will be able to return to normal activities.
Keep hydrated to help your skin heal and rejuvenate faster.
For the first 24 hours after being treated, do not apply makeup or have a spray tan and avoid unnecessarily touching your face as this will help to reduce the risk of infection. You can still wash your face as normal with clean hands.
Avoid alcohol for 24-48 hours after being treated to reduce swelling and redness.
Avoid vigorous exercise, sunbathing, extreme temperature (hot and cold) such as saunas/steam baths to reduce prolonged swelling, redness and infection risk.
Do not have PRP and microneedling done 2-4 weeks before or after a laser treatment, IPL or chemical peel, as this can increase swelling and redness.
After treatment, wear sunscreen and avoid UV exposure.
Do not have facial massages, facial-electro stimulation, dermaroller/microneedling, semi-permanent makeup or microdermabrasion for up to 8 weeks before and after your treatment, and not until your treatment has completely healed. This is to reduce swelling and infection risk.
Leave 2 weeks after PRP before having Dermal Filler or Anti-Wrinkle injections.
Some tenderness during and after treatment is normal. You can use painkillers and cold compresses (a clean cloth dipped in cold water, wrung out, applied to the injected area) to help any discomfort. Arnica cream, fresh pineapples/bromelain tablets can reduce bruising and swelling.
If redness, tenderness, itching and swelling continues to worsen after a few days, contact us.
Escalating pain is not normal, and you must contact us for follow up.
Whilst PRP is generally considered a safe and effective treatment, it's important to be aware of some potential risks involved. Here's a summary to ensure you make an informed decision:
Temporary Discomfort: The procedure itself can cause some minor discomfort. Topical anestheticis not recommended as it will reduce absorption of the platelet growth factors. You might also experience some redness, swelling, or pinpoint bleeding immediately after the treatment. These effects are usually temporary and resolve within a few hours or days.
Infection: As with any procedure that penetrates the skin, there's a slight risk of infection. Byova uses sterilised needles and adheres to strict hygiene protocols to minimise this risk.
Allergic Reaction: If you have allergies to certain disinfectants used during the procedure, you might experience an allergic reaction. Discussing your medical history during your consultation is crucial to identify any potential risks.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections are a non-surgical cosmetic treatment offered at Byova, designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. This procedure involves injecting a purified form of botulinum toxin into specific facial muscles, which temporarily softens them and smooths out the skin. A Common brand name is Botox® . Originally developed to treat medical conditions, cosmetic uses such as wrinkle relaxing treatments were developed. At Byova, our trained and experienced professionals administer Botox injections with precision and care to achieve natural-looking results tailored to each individual's unique facial structure. Our focus is on enhancing natural beauty and promoting confidence through safe and effective treatments.
Botulinum toxin temporarily softens muscle activity on average for 3 months. This effectively reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the facial muscles responsible for causing creases to form in the skin. It takes up to 2-3 weeks for the muscles to soften, where the result from the treatment can then be assessed.
Byova prioritises safety and efficacy, using only MHRA-approved Botox® made by Allergan.
Experience virtually pain-free treatment at Byova. We combine powerful numbing cream with ultra-fine needles, and a gentle technique for a comfortable and stress-free experience.
After treatment, there is virtually no downtime, and patients can return to their normal daily lives. Small little blebs in the skin at the injection sites will be present after treatment for approximately 30 minutes.
To avoid the risk of any complications, please follow the below after care:
Keep the treated muscles active for a few hours to increase uptake of the medicine.
Avoid lying down for 4 hours to reduce the dispersal of the medicine.
For the first 24 hours after being treated, do not apply makeup or have a spray tan and avoid unnecessarily touching your face as this will help to reduce the risk of infection. You can still wash your face as normal with clean hands and very gentle pressure around the treated areas.
Avoid alcohol for 24-48 hours after being treated to reduce the risk of swelling and redness.
Avoid vigorous exercise, sunbathing, extreme temperature (hot and cold) such as saunas/steam baths, for two weeks to reduce dispersal of the medicine.
Do not have facial massages, facial electro stimulation, derma roller, semi-permanent makeup or microdermabrasion for two weeks after your treatment, and not until your treatment has completely healed.
Some tenderness during and after treatment is normal. You can use painkillers and cold compresses (a clean cloth dipped in cold water, wring out applied to the injected area) to help any discomfort. Arnica cream, fresh pineapples/bromelain tablets can reduce bruising and swelling.
If redness, tenderness, itching and swelling continues to worsen after a few days, get in contact with Byova.
After treatment, it is expected that you will start to see an improvement within 4 or 5 days.
For some patients, this takes longer. The full result may be judged at 2-3 weeks
Try not to drink any alcohol within 24 hours prior to your appointment or caffeine on the day of your appointment.

The results of anti-wrinkle injections typically last for 3-4 months. However, this timeframe can vary depending on several factors:
Individual factors: Your body's metabolism plays a role. People who metabolise Botulinum Toxin quickly may see results fade sooner, while those who metabolise it slower may experience longer-lasting effects.
Area treated: The muscles targeted by the injection can influence longevity. Areas with more frequent movement, like the forehead, might require more frequent touch-up treatments compared to areas with less movement.
What you can expect:
Early signs of fading: Some patients might notice a slight return of frown lines or wrinkles around the 2-3 month mark.
Time for a touch-up: By the 3-4 month mark, most patients will require a touch-up treatment to maintain optimal results.
At Byova, we can personalise your anti-wrinkle treatment plan to achieve your desired outcome and recommend a schedule for touch-up appointments to ensure you experience the continued benefits of skin rejuvenation throughout the year.
At Byova, your safety and well-being are our top priorities. Here's why you can choose us with complete confidence:

Common risks include redness, some mild discomfort, some mild bleeding at the entry points, and itching at needle entry points. Less common risks include bruising, swelling and headaches. Rare risks include fainting (needle-phobic patients), allergy and infection. Very rare risks include being resistant to the medicine, the medicine wears off quickly, a temporary dropped eyelid, a temporary dropped eyebrow, temporary dry eyes, temporary double vision, temporary puffy eyes, and temporary asymmetry.
Pregnant and breast-feeding women.
People with an allergy to Botulinum Toxin (and a hypothetical risk of allergy to eggs) and a general history of severe allergic reactions. Please discuss with your practitioner.
If you have an active infection or inflammation at the site of injection.
If you have a bleeding disorder, such as haemophilia.
If you have had surgery on your face, your muscle response may vary.
If you have already had other botulinum toxin injections recently or you had no significant improvement of your lines after your last treatment with botulinum toxin (you may be a non-responder).
If you have myasthenia gravis, Eaton Lambert Syndrome, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), facial palsy or any other neuromuscular disorder.
Some supplements such as Vitamin A, C or E, Ginkgo Biloba, Garlic, fish oils, St. John's Wort or some pain killing medicines such as aspirin, or ibuprofen or bloodthinning medication can increase your risk of bruising.
