The process is quick and virtually painless, and involves creating tiny, micro-channels in the skin's surface to stimulate your body's natural collagen production. This can lead to improvements in acne scarring and reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Our specialists use the latest technology to provide you with a comfortable and efficient experience every time.

Before and After

Frequently asked questions
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses tiny sterilised needles to create controlled micro-channels in the top layer of your skin. This controlled micro-trauma induces your body's natural healing response, leading to a cascade of benefits for a more youthful and radiant complexion.
Here's a closer look at microneedling and its advantages:
Stimulating Renewal:
Microneedling creates tiny channels in the skin. Your body perceives these channels as micro-wounds, prompting it to send healing factors to the area. This stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, the building blocks of healthy, youthful skin. Increased collagen and elastin lead to:
Improved Skin Texture: Fine lines and wrinkles appear less noticeable, leaving your skin smoother and more even-toned.
Enhanced Elasticity: As collagen production increases, your skin regains elasticity, resulting in a firmer and tighter appearance.
Reduced Scarring: Microneedling can be effective in minimising the appearance of acne scars and other blemishes by stimulating collagen production to fill in those areas.
Reduced pore size
Beyond Collagen Boost:
Microneedling offers additional benefits:
Increased Product Absorption: The micro-channels created during the procedure temporarily increase the absorption of skincare products, allowing them to penetrate deeper layers of the skin and improve their effectiveness. Powerful serums will be applied after your treatment for enhance results, or you can add on mesotherapy, plant based stem cell exosomes or PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) for more enhanced results.
Targeted Treatment: Microneedling can be customised to address specific concerns. For example, combined with topical medications, it can be used to target stretch marks and acne scarring.
Suitable for Many Skin Concerns:
Microneedling is a versatile treatment that can address a variety of concerns:
Fine lines and wrinkles
Acne scars
Sun damage
Stretch marks
Large pores
Uneven skin tone

Generally, for optimum results, a course of treatments will take place every 4-6 weeks for a series of 3-6 treatments.
Microneedling is relatively pain-free and feels like a light vibrating sensation on the skin with very light pressure applied.
Numbing cream is not recommended as this will reduce to absorption of serums after treatment.
Try not to drink any alcohol within 24 hours prior to your appointment or caffeine on the day of your appointment.
Arrive to your appointment without make-up or we can remove it for you.
Do not have treatment 2-4 weeks before or after a laser treatment or chemical peel, as this can increase swelling and redness or hyperpigmentation.
Avoid sun exposure for 24 hours prior to treatment.
Do not use any retinoid products in the area to be treated for 5 days prior to your appointment.
Microneedling typically involves minimal downtime, allowing you to get back to your daily routine quickly. Immediately after treatment, you will experience some minor swelling, redness, and tenderness. This is usually temporary and resolves within a few hours or days. Other reactions may include slight tightness and mild flaking.
To avoid the risk of any complications, please follow the below after care:
Most people will be able to return to normal activities.
Keep hydrated to help your skin heal and rejuvenate faster.
For the first 24 hours after being treated, do not apply makeup or have a spray tan and avoid unnecessarily touching your face as this will help to reduce the risk of infection. You can still wash your face as normal with clean hands.
Avoid alcohol for 24-48 hours after being treated to reduce swelling and redness.
Avoid vigorous exercise, sunbathing, extreme temperature (hot and cold) such as saunas/steam baths to reduce prolonged swelling, redness and infection risk.
Do not have microneedling done 2-4 weeks before or after a laser treatment, IPL or chemical peel, as this can increase swelling and redness.
After treatment, wear sunscreen and avoid UV exposure.
Do not have facial massages, facial-electro stimulation, dermaroller/microneedling, semi-permanent makeup or microdermabrasion for up to 8 weeks before and after your treatment, and not until your treatment has completely healed. This is to reduce swelling and infection risk.
Do not use any retinoid products in the area to be treated for 5 days after your appointment.
Leave 2 weeks after microneedling before having Dermal Filler or Anti-Wrinkle injections.
Some tenderness during and after treatment is normal. You can use painkillers and cold compresses (a clean cloth dipped in cold water, wrung out, applied to the injected area) to help any discomfort. Arnica cream, fresh pineapples/bromelain tablets can reduce bruising and swelling.
If redness, tenderness, itching and swelling continues to worsen after a few days, contact us.
Escalating pain is not normal, and you must contact us for follow up.
Whilst microneedling is generally considered a safe and effective treatment, it's important to be aware of some potential risks involved. Here's a summary to ensure you make an informed decision:
Temporary Discomfort: The procedure itself can cause some minor discomfort. Topical anestheticis not recommended as it will reduce absorption of serums after treatment. You might also experience some redness, swelling, or pinpoint bleeding immediately after the treatment. These effects are usually temporary and resolve within a few hours or days.
Infection: As with any procedure that penetrates the skin, there's a slight risk of infection. Byova uses sterilised needles and adheres to strict hygiene protocols to minimise this risk.
Scarring: In rare cases, microneedling can lead to scarring, especially if performed incorrectly or on individuals prone to scarring. Choosing an experienced and qualified professional significantly reduces this risk.
Allergic Reaction: If you have allergies to certain topical medications or disinfectants used during the procedure, you might experience an allergic reaction. Discussing your medical history during your consultation is crucial to identify any potential risks.
Uneven Results: In inexperienced hands, microneedling can lead to uneven results, such as pigmentation changes or textural irregularities. Byova's team comprises of highly trained professionals who use precise techniques to ensure optimal and even outcomes.
