Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-Wrinkle Injections are a non-surgical cosmetic treatment offered at Byova, designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. This procedure involves injecting a purified form of botulinum toxin into specific facial muscles, which temporarily softens them and smooths out the skin. A Common brand name is Botox® . Originally developed to treat medical conditions, cosmetic uses such as wrinkle relaxing treatments were developed. At Byova, our trained and experienced professionals administer Botox injections with precision and care to achieve natural-looking results tailored to each individual's unique facial structure. Botulinum toxin temporarily softens muscle activity on average for 3 months. This effectively reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the facial muscles responsible for causing creases to form in the skin. It takes up to 2-3 weeks for the muscles to soften, where the result from the treatment can then be assessed. Byova prioritises safety and efficacy, using only MHRA-approved Botox® made by Allergan.

After treatment, there is virtually no downtime, and patients can return to their normal daily lives. Small little blebs in the skin at the injection sites will be present after treatment for approximately 30 minutes. To avoid the risk of any complications, please follow the below after care: • Keep the treated muscles active for a few hours to increase uptake of the medicine. • Avoid lying down for 4 hours to reduce the dispersal of the medicine. • For the first 24 hours after being treated, do not apply makeup or have a spray tan and avoid unnecessarily touching your face as this will help to reduce the risk of infection. You can still wash your face as normal with clean hands and very gentle pressure around the treated areas. • Avoid alcohol for 24-48 hours after being treated to reduce the risk of swelling and redness. • Avoid vigorous exercise, sunbathing, extreme temperature (hot and cold) such as saunas/steam baths, for two weeks to reduce dispersal of the medicine. • Do not have facial massages, facial electro stimulation, derma roller, semi-permanent makeup or microdermabrasion for two weeks after your treatment, and not until your treatment has completely healed. • Some tenderness during and after treatment is normal. You can use painkillers and cold compresses (a clean cloth dipped in cold water, wring out applied to the injected area) to help any discomfort. Arnica cream, fresh pineapples/bromelain tablets can reduce bruising and swelling. • If redness, tenderness, itching and swelling continues to worsen after a few days, get in contact with Byova. • After treatment, it is expected that you will start to see an improvement within 4 or 5 days. • For some patients, this takes longer. The full result may be judged at 2-3 weeks

• Try not to drink any alcohol within 24 hours prior to your appointment or caffeine on the day of your appointment. • Arrive to your appointment without make-up or we can remove it for you.

The results of anti-wrinkle injections typically last for 3-4 months. However, this timeframe can vary depending on several factors: • Individual factors: Your body's metabolism plays a role. People who metabolise Botulinum Toxin quickly may see results fade sooner, while those who metabolise it slower may experience longer-lasting effects. • Area treated: The muscles targeted by the injection can influence longevity. Areas with more frequent movement, like the forehead, might require more frequent touch-up treatments compared to areas with less movement. What you can expect: • Early signs of fading: Some patients might notice a slight return of frown lines or wrinkles around the 2-3 month mark. • Time for a touch-up: By the 3-4 month mark, most patients will require a touch-up treatment to maintain optimal results. • Pregnant and breast-feeding women. • People with an allergy to Botulinum Toxin (and a hypothetical risk of allergy to eggs) and a general history of severe allergic reactions. Please discuss with your practitioner. • If you have an active infection or inflammation at the site of injection. • If you have a bleeding disorder, such as haemophilia. • If you have had surgery on your face, your muscle response may vary. • If you have already had other botulinum toxin injections recently or you had no significant improvement of your lines after your last treatment with botulinum toxin (you may be a non-responder). • If you have myasthenia gravis, Eaton Lambert Syndrome, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), facial palsy or any other neuromuscular disorder. • Some supplements such as Vitamin A, C or E, Ginkgo Biloba, Garlic, fish oils, St. John's Wort or some pain killing medicines such as aspirin, or ibuprofen or bloodthinning medication can increase your risk of bruising.
